FAQ for Renters
+ I see that there are different types of properties listed. How do I know what the differences are?
iVacation.com property owners offer many different types of properties for rent or sale. Some are available only on a weekly basis, some are available on a daily or nightly basis and some are available for extended periods of time. The text description will describe whether it is a home, a condo, a bed and breakfast, or some other variation. To see a list of frequently used terms related to Weekly Condo Rentals (also known as Timeshares), click on Timeshare Terminology.
+ I see that some Properties are listed with a start date and an end date, and others are listed are "variable" or "floating". What is the difference?
You are probably looking at a Timeshare or Weekly Condo Rental property. These are weeks that are available on either a "fixed", meaning the dates are already set - when you can arrive and when you will need to check-out - or a "floating" basis, which means the owner has the opportunity to choose between the available weeks at their resort. A "fixed" week owner will be offering that specific week for rent (or perhaps also for sale). A "floating" week owner will need to know when you want to travel, and then contact their Resort to make a reservation for that time period.
+ I see a property I'm interested in. What do I do next?
iVacation.com features properties for sale or rent directly by the Property Owner. The quickest way to contact an owner is usually to call them at the number listed on their property page. If you prefer to contact them by e-mail, use the link to send an e-mail to the owner - you can click on the link marked "send an e-mail" or scroll to the bottom of the page and fill out the form. Make sure to include ALL the information requested, including the dates you are traveling, the number of people traveling and phone numbers the owner can use to contact you.
+ I've talked to the owner and they answered my questions. Does this mean the property rental is confirmed?
Throughout the travel industry, a reservation is usually only confirmed once you have paid either a deposit or the rental price the owner is asking. If you have not paid the owner a deposit, you cannot assume the reservation is confirmed.
+ The owner has confirmed that the time period I'm traveling is available and I have paid them a deposit, or the rental amount for the week. Should I ask for anything else?
If you are traveling to a Vacation Home or a Bed and Breakfast where the owner is in charge of the entire dwelling, they will instruct you as to anything else they need from you. If you are traveling to a Resort location where the Property owner owns a period of time, through either direct ownership, a points system, or outright ownership (a specific unit within the Resort), you may need a "Guest Pass" or a similar document so that the Resort Front Desk will recognize you as a confirmed guest. Make sure to ask the Property owner about the need for a Guest Pass, and make sure you have it prior to travel.
