Built in 1893 California House is classified by the NZ Historic Places Trust for its historical and architectural significance. The Inn’s features are impressive, from the English Oak panelled entrance hall and beautifully finished NZ native timbers throughout to the numerous Art Nouveau stained glass windows, stylish period decor and wide wrap around verandahs. The congenial atmosphere ensures relaxation - choose the peaceful guest sitting room with its Persian rugs, library, tea/coffee making facilities and fireplace for those brisk winter nights or the wide, sunny verandahs overlooking the lawns and gardens during the warm summer months. ON ARRIVAL you will be shown through the house, which is yours to enjoy. There are 5 well appointed guestrooms, each individually decorated, with colonial oak furniture and comfortable antique beds. With 12 foot ceilings they are also light and spacious. Delight at the extra personal touches - posies of flowers fresh from the garden, curios, old books and memorabilia.
